Welcome to my untidy, creative mind
I’m Karen and I won’t lie to you – my mind is untidy! And random. And disorganised. I have so many interests and ideas and experiences and thoughts that I decided a ‘catch all’ blog would allow me to express them. Who knows, maybe I could do it neatly, contained in a blog post…
When I thought about this blog first, I knew I didn’t want it to be a journal – my untamed and innermost thoughts and feelings, out there, in the open, plainly terrified me. So, I decided to create this blog, which is somewhat twofold: a place to set down my thoughts on the world and a place to explore creativity. Allow me to explain how the two are linked.
From courage to creativity…
I have never been what I would call a ‘creative’ person. I love creative pursuits, though – art, music, reading, writing, dancing, etc. However, I consumed them, often dreaming I could create them.
It has taken me years to realise that I can. It just takes a bit of courage.
“Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse
This is where my thoughts come in.
From creativity to courage…
I am currently on a journey to changing my approach to my emotions and my thoughts. I do this with the help of a counsellor which started as a way of dealing with my grief over losing my Dad and continued to making myself a happier, better person.
And so, I am finding my courage. Step by step, I am overcoming many fears I have – including my fear that stops my creativity from taking hold.
And everything else in between…
I also happen to be an observant, reflective and curious person. I love psychology and human behaviour. My journey through counselling has helped me understand more about me, but also other people. I love to learn and am always seeking new knowledge that I can hoard and use.
With all that, this blog will be about:
- My journey from fear to courage, consumer to creator.
- My counselling journey, from fear to mindfulness and a full life.
- My observations and thoughts about the world.
- Creative projects and challenges I am working on.
- Anything else that doesn’t fit neatly into any particular category.
I want to share my journey with you, allow you to see how I find my courage, how I think about many different topics and ideas and how I discover what it is to live creatively. I hope it will inspire you, too.
